Keith Hall - Managing Partner

Keith HallKeith Hall is a co-founder along with Peter Bren, Chuck Schreiber, and Peter McMillan of KBS Capital Advisors, and is chief executive officer of the board of directors of KBS Strategic Opportunity REIT*. Mr. Hall also serves as executive vice president of the board of directors of both KBS REIT* and KBS REIT II*. Mr. Hall is also co-founder of Willowbrook Capital Group, LLC, an asset management company located in Los Angeles. Prior to forming Willowbrook Capital, Mr. Hall was a managing director at CS First Boston, where he managed distribution strategy and business development for the Principal Transaction Group’s real estate securities portfolio. In this capacity, Mr. Hall’s two primary business unit responsibilities were mezzanine lending and commercial real estate development.

Before joining CS First Boston in 1996, Mr. Hall served as a director in the Real Estate Products Group at Nomura Securities, with responsibility for the company’s distribution and trading of fixed-income commercial mortgage backed securities. Mr. Hall spent the 1980s as a senior vice president in the High Yield Department of Drexel Burnham Lambert’s Beverly Hills office, where he was responsible for the distribution and trading of the group’s high-yield real estate securities.



Brian Ragsdale - Executive Vice President, Head of Credit

Brian RagsdaleAs executive vice president and head of credit for KBS Capital Advisors, Brian Ragsdale is responsible for all origination and underwriting of loans by KBS and those purchased from third parties. Mr. Ragsdale has more than 22 years experience in originating and negotiating commercial real estate mortgage loans and identifying equity acquisition opportunities.

Prior to joining KBS, Mr. Ragsdale was vice president of mortgage lending and real estate at AIG Global Investment Corp., where he was responsible for the supervision of the Investment Management Department associated with AIG's $13-billion, approximately 1,500-loan portfolio. Previously, Mr. Ragsdale was senior vice president of client portfolio management for Trammell Crow Company. Prior to that, he was vice president, asset and portfolio management for PM Realty Advisors, where he oversaw a 30-asset, $450-million portfolio owned by a state employee retirement fund.

Mr. Ragsdale graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor's degree and later received his MBA from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas. He also received SMU's Costa School of Real Estate Certificate.



James Rodgers - Managing Director, Head of Acquisitions

James RodgersJames Rodgers is the head of acquisitions for the KBS Strategic Opportunity REIT*. He is responsible for originating, underwriting and structuring investments in both debt and equity, and managing the investment team.

Prior to joining KBS, Mr. Rodgers was an investment banker with Merrill Lynch in New York. He began his career in the Asset Backed Securities group, where he structured and originated public securities offerings for Merrill’s large corporate clients. He later transitioned into the Global Structured Finance and Investments division, where he focused on investing the group’s $20 billion balance sheet in structured debt, including secured warehouse loans, portfolio investments, and joint venture partnerships.

Mr. Rodgers holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management, where he focused in real estate and finance. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.



Robert M. Durand - Senior Vice President, Financing and Mortgage Originations

Robert DurandAs senior vice president of financing, Rob Durand is responsible for developing lending relationships, and negotiating and closing financing for the company’s real estate assets.  He also serves as vice president of mortgage originations, a position requiring him to source, structure, underwrite and close first mortgages and mezzanine loans on behalf of KBS REIT*, KBS REIT II* and KBS Strategic Opportunity REIT*. 

Prior to joining KBS, Mr. Durand was a vice president in JPMorgan Real Estate’s CMBS group, and was responsible for the origination, structuring and negotiation of CMBS, construction, bridge and mezzanine loans.  He also spent more than 10 years at Babson Capital Management (a subsidiary of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company), most recently as a managing director, charged with sourcing, underwriting and closing commercial real estate loans.  Mr. Durand’s transaction experience totals more than $2.3 billion and includes office, industrial, retail, multi-family and hotel properties, fixed and floating rate loan structures (portfolio and CMBS), first trust deed, mezzanine/structured finance, bridge loans and large portfolio financings.

Mr. Durand is a native of southern California and a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles. He has been awarded the CCIM designation. 



Dean Cederquist - Managing Director

Dean CederquistDean Cederquist is primarily responsible for originating direct loans and related investments for KBS.  He has worked in all areas of the real estate industry during his career, including acquisitions, development, securities investment, lending and joint-venture equity investment. 

Most recently, he was a managing director of NY Credit Advisors, LLC, a real estate lending venture sponsored by NY Life and HSH-Nordbank.  Previously, he was one of two founding partners of High Rise Partners, a REIT investment fund with equity of approximately $250 million.  During his tenure at the fund, High Rise Partners achieved net returns exceeding both REIT and general stock market averages. As a director of Credit Suisse First Boston, Mr. Cederquist was responsible for originating and closing more than $2 billion of investments, and for establishing and managing the credit lease division. 

Previously, he was the director of real estate investments for Lerner Enterprises, one of the largest full-service development companies in the middle Atlantic, and was a project partner with JBG Associates, another large Washington-based real estate enterprise.

Mr. Cederquist earned his CPA certificate at Deloitte, Haskins & Sells in San Francisco.  He graduated with honors from Arizona State University and Harvard Business School. 



Geoff Hawkins - Managing Director

Geoff HawkinsAs a managing director and senior portfolio manager for KBS Capital Advisors, Geoff Hawkins is in charge of mortgage originations and debt investments in the mid-west region of the United States. Mr. Hawkins has more than 23 years experience investing in the global commercial real estate markets and has been working with commercial mortgages and mortgage securities for 20 years. Mr. Hawkins has extensive experience in the commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS) markets and manages the firms securities portfolios

Prior to joining KBS, Mr. Hawkins was an executive director and senior portfolio manager for Forum Partners, an international commercial real estate private equity group operating in the UK, Europe and Asia. Prior to this, Mr. Hawkins was a portfolio manager at the Capital Group Companies, a global manager of mutual funds and institutional pension accounts. While at the Capital Group Companies, he managed portfolios in a number of public mutual funds including the Bond Fund of America, the Intermediate Bond Fund of America, Government Fund and the Income Fund of America.

Mr. Hawkins holds a bachelor's in finance from the University of Iowa and a MBA from DePaul University.



David Moore - Managing Director

David MooreAs Managing Director for KBS Capital Advisors, David Moore is responsible for sourcing, structuring and underwriting first mortgage loans on behalf of KBS REIT II* and Acquisitions of distressed assets for KBS Strategic Opportunity REIT* in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and South Central US Region.

Prior to KBS, David was a Managing Director for American International Group (AIG) Global Investment Management in Los Angeles, California, managing a commercial real estate loan originations and a portfolio of $1.7 billion of office, industrial, retail and hospitality loans. Prior to AIG, David was a Vice President for Lincoln National Corp (LNC) where he was responsible for all capital market activities and structured securities including CMBS, Asset Backed Securities and REIT’s. He has a proven track record of originating and managing investments including commercial real estate mortgages, CMBS, REIT’s and distressed real estate investments.

David is a graduate of the University of North Texas, with a BBA in Finance and Banking. David was an early pioneer of commercial mortgage securitization and served seven years as Founding Member of the Board of Governors CRE Finance Council, formerly CMSA. He was Co-Chairman, Mortgage Bankers Association Commercial Mortgage Securitization Committee and is a Member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT).



Jeff Rader - Vice President

Jeff RaderAs vice president for KBS Capital Advisors, Jeff Rader is responsible for sourcing, structuring, underwriting and closing first mortgages and mezzanine loans on behalf of KBS REIT II* and KBS Strategic Opportunity REIT* in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. He also manages debt investments for KBS REIT*, KBS REIT II*, and debt and equity investments for KBS Strategic Opportunity REIT*.

Prior to joining KBS, Mr. Rader was an associate at a global management consulting firm.

Mr. Rader completed his MBA in real estate and finance from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California and holds a bachelor's degree in economics from DePauw University. He is active in the Southern California Chapter of NAIOP and a member of the Chapter’s Young Professionals Group.



Kevin Schoening - Director

Kevin SchoeningAs director, Kevin Schoening will focus on the acquisition, management and sale of commercial real estate notes and deeds. Mr. Schoening will focus on properties located throughout California and the Western States.

Kevin Schoening has been in the mortgage and real estate related business since 1983. In 2001 Mr. Schoening went independent and started Pacific Group Investments, LLC where he is the Managing Member. Since 2001, Mr. Schoening as an independent contractor has been involved in the purchase, work-out and sale of over 1,000 mortgage and real estate backed assets worth over $100mm to include residential, commercial and agricultural properties. Prior to 2001 Mr. Schoening was a managing director with US Bank/Piper Jaffray in institutional asset-backed sales, with Prudential Securities as a senior vice president in institutional asset backed sales and with Nomura Securities as a vice president focusing on residential and commercial real estate asset backed securities.

Mr. Schoening lives in Danville California. Mr. Schoening is a licensed California Real Estate Broker and received a bachelors degree in economics from California State University, Sacramento.
